CRAIG
CHANDLER PERFORMED WELL IN FIRST LEADERSHIP DEBATE
|
|
On Sunday March
2, 2003 our candidate Craig Chandler showed the rest of Canada what
we already know. He is an honest straight shooter that does not
sugarcoat the truth. Craig said some things that needed to be heard.
Craig communicated a sincere message of uniting the conservative
movement that was not easy for some establishment Tories to hear.
However, Craig
went into the lions den and delivered the message. Below are some
quotes from some newspaper clippings throughout Canada.
"The
only thing we did wrong was we didn't take him out," Chandler
said of Saddam. "we're going back to finish the job, and if
we're not supporting our American allies, that's cowardly. Absolutely
cowardly".
Ottawa Sun
"Mr. Chandler's main plank was
Conservative unity with the Canadian Alliance, although he received
little applause for his platform"
Calgary Herald
"Mr. Chandler, a slab of a man
with surprisingly delicate legs, is the unite-the right guy. He
holds Alliance and Tory cards and shares the cherished belief of
this newspaper's editoralists, that Tories and Alliance members
should simply ignore their differences of opinion for the sake of
beating Liberals."
National Post
"Chandler, who advocated private
medicine, closer economic ties to the U.S. and a merger with the
Canadian Alliance party, provided the rant of the day when he lamented
"the anti-Alliance, anti-co-operation, head-in-the-sand...egomaniac,
regional, do-it-my-way, small-tent, narrow-mindness that I've seen
in other candidates." He was staring at Mackay as he spoke."
The Toronto Star
"And then there is Craig Chandler
a zealot from the far right..."
Globe & Mail
"Mr. Chandler, on the other hand
is the personification of a certain Canada that believes any disagreement
with the Bush White House is treasonous. "Before I get to my
main message," he said in his opening remarks, "I want
to apologize to the United States on behalf of our country."
National Post
$80,000
MORE NEEDED TO COMPLETE CAMPAIGN
|
|
We need $80,000
more dollars to bring Craig to victory. The amount of money coming
in is impressive but for what we have budgeted it is still short
of what we need to cross the finish line. Donations to Craig Chandler
can be made by MasterCard, Visa, American Express, cheque, cash
or money order. If you make your donation by cheque it must be payable
to PC Canada Fund - PGIB www.2cards.ca Committee and mailed to RR#3 Rockwood
Ontario, N0B 2K0
Where will your
money go? It will be used towards brochures, postage, envelopes,
telephone bills, flights, hotel expenses, campaign salaries for
the Candidate and Campaign Manager etc...
Will I benefit
if I make a donation? By contributing to Craig's campaign you are
supporting the unity agenda of The Progressive Group for Independent
Business (PGIB) and that is a substantial benefit. Even if you are
voting for another candidate, but feel the unity issue is important
you can still contribute so the message is delivered in this leadership
race. However, being that Craig Chandler is as an official candidate
of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada all donations made
entitle you (Individual or Corporation) to tax credits. For example
if you donated $100 your tax credit would be $75 and if you contributed
$500 your tax credit would be $300 so your actual costs are minimal.
Sponsor An Event.
For a contribution of $1,000 you can sponsor an event on the Chandler
for PC Leader tour and get your company great exposure.
* Your Company
name logo or message will appear in the Upcoming Events section
of the campaign website.
* Your Company name logo or message will appear on ALL mass e-mails,
mass fax outs and any other forms of advertising for your sponsored
event.
* Your Company will be thanked at the event and you will be granted
3 minutes to discuss your company's product or service at the event.
Donate Your
Air Miles. Craig is travelling across country and it all adds up.
Infact, just to make sure that he attended a Delegate Selection
Meeting recently on Saturday, March 8, 2003 we spent $1,188.88 to
get him there. You can donate one way or you can donate a round
trip we just need the support. If you would like to help Craig in
this manner please call the Chandler for PC Leader Travel Agent

PGIB www.2cards.ca Committee NOTICED AT ONTARIO PREMIER ERNIE EVES DINNER
|
|
The Chandler
for PC Leader campaign was quite noticeable at the annual Premier's
dinner on March 4, 2003 at the Mississauga Convention Centre in
Ontario. Craig and Bruce Peck (PGIB Ontario Chairman and Chandler
for PC Leader Campaign Manager) were shaking hands and promoting
the www.2cards.ca
Project of unity in Canada's conservative movement. Some spectacular
new contacts were made and some old contacts were re-ignited.
Craig introduced
Bruce to his long time friend and former Ontario Premier, Mike Harris
and close friend Frank Klees, Minister of Transportation. Frank
and Craig greated each other like long lost brothers in a friendly
embrace. Joining Bruce and Craig at their table was John Capabianco
a well known and respected Canadian Alliance and Ontario Progressive
Conservative mover and shaker.
Craig was introduced
along with Jim Prentice as special guests of the sold out dinner
and in the Premier's speech Craig and Jim were at the brunt of a
joke. The joke told in good fun by Ernie Eves was the following:
"I received
an award last night in Windsor and it was not because I was the
last Tory out of Windsor. I hope Mr. Chandler and Mr. Prentice will
forgive me but Hugh Segal who presented me with this award said
to me that he does not belong to any organized political party and
I asked him what he meant by that. Well, Hugh replied, I am a member
of the federal Progressive Conservative Party".
Craig and Bruce
served the movement well at this event and we thank them for their
consistent efforts.
OPEN
LETTER TO PROGRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE PARTY MEMBERS
|
|
Dear Progressive
Conservative Party of Canada Member,
My name is Craig
Chandler and I write you this letter to request your support for
my leadership bid of this proud party.
I hate to admit
it, but we conservatives can learn something from the Liberals.
They've been
successful at it for years. And that's how they continue to undermine
conservatives, win policy battles and maintain governments throughout
Canada at every level. The success I am referring to is a simple
word called unity. It is not that we in the conservative movement
can't unify, we just choose not to and this must change, especially
with the upcoming federal election with the Liberals being led by
Paul Martin.
I first got
involved in politics in 1989 with the Reform Party of Canada and
was one of the first Reform Party members when the party expanded
east of the Manitoba border in 1990. This was the first party that
I ever joined.
I was impressed
by the bottom up, grassroots, democratic policies, and less government-lower
taxes mentality of Preston Manning. I decided to get ivolved in
a serious way and dedicate my life to helping the next generation
of Canadians. I served on the Board of Directors for the Burlington
Reform Party Constituency Association and helped organize several
ridings for the Reform Party in Ontario.
In 1992, I co-founded
the Progressive Group for Independent Business (PGIB) in response
to Bob Rae and his socialist NDP. The PGIB very quickly became a
force to be reckoned with and proudly helped the Mike Harris, Common
Sense Revolution with PGIB policies. We helped prevent a divided
right in Ontario
through the efforts of an offshoot organization of the PGIB called
Focus Federally for Refom which can be seen at www.2cards.ca under
Movement History. Further information on PGIB itself can be viewed
at http://www.pgib.ca.
In 1993, I decided
to run for Member of Parliament for the Reform Party in Burlington.
I lost the nomination, but was immediately approached by 7 area
ridings to seek the nomination for the Reform Party in their area.
I chose Hamilton Mountain and ran against 5 other candidates in
a hotly contested nomination. I won with over 67% of the vote.
I was 23 and
my campaign slogan was "Blessed are the young for we shall
inherit the debt". The media said that I was an extreme long
shot and said that I would get 2% of the vote if I was lucky. I
finished second to a Liberal in Hamilton with over 10,000 votes
for a party that did not exist in the prior election. Not bad for
a long shot. In 1993 I was concerned then as I am now that my generation,
Generation Taxed not Generation X, has had its future mortgaged.
We were simply out numbered 3 -1 and there was a massive health
care crisis looming before us. Billions of dollars were going towards
just the interest on the debt without even touching the principal.
I am sad to
say that nothing has changed, other than increased corruption, graft,
bribery, an erosion of family values, activist judges, child pornography
and the list goes on. This is the legacy of the Liberals and without
a united conservative movement in this nation, I am very much concerned
that things will get dramatically worse for out children and grandchildren.
I came to the
conclusion quite some time ago that what ails Canada will not be
cured with a divided conservative movement; in fact it is to a large
degree the reason these problems exist and are being perpetuated.
I then took out a membership in the Progressive Conservative Party
of Canada in 1998
to and have been a proud member ever since.
We have been
travelling a road of vote splitting and holding onto the baggage
of past transgressions within the Canadian Alliance and the Progressive
Conservative Party of Canada. The Canadian Alliance has chosen a
new leader that has clearly shown on many occasions that unity between
the conservative family is important. With my candidacy, we now
have an opportunity to elect a Canadian Alliance friendly leader
within the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. We must work
together.
We must end
the feud. We must rid ourselves of the posturing type leadership
we have seen in the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. It
is really that simple.
I am a less
government, lower taxes and political accountability candidate with
a wide range of policies that can be viewed at www.2cards.ca under
my policy section. However, the most important policy during this
entire election is uniting the conservative movement and working
together with the Canadian Alliance to end the Liberal monopoly
and death grip the Trudeau and Chrétien regime has had on
Canada for all these years.
Quite frankly,
if any of the other candidates truly wanted to unite the conservative
movement they would have done more than merely pay lip service to
this crucial problem during a leadership race. My thumbnail sketch
of my opponents can be characterized as follows:
David Orchard
is not a conservative.
Peter McKay
and Scott Brison are on record as anti-Alliance.
Jim Prentice
has a chameleon like approach, depending on which part of the country
he is speaking.
Heward Graffety
is part of the problem in our party and why we are no longer government.
Andre Bachand
represents only the interests of one particular province.
I am the only
leadership candidate that is a 2 card carrier, a member of both
the Canadian Alliance and the Progressive Conservative Party of
Canada. I am similar to a child in a separated family where my mother
is the Progressive Conservatives and the Alliance is my father and
I am just desperately trying to get my family back together.
This leadership
race is quite simply about uniting the conservative movement and
nothing more! All our policy positions are absolutely irrelevant
unless we are united. We need to elect a leader that will sit down
in good faith with Stephen Harper and work out a parliamentary coalition
before the next federal election. Mr. Harper needs to be able to
negotiate with someone that he can trust and I am that man. I believe
that I best represent the hope of success for the Progressive Conservative
Party of Canada.
I ask for you
to look at my website at www.2cards.ca in detail and support me
both publicly and privately. I may not be the establishment's choice,
nor am I the media's favourite son, but if you truly want to see
the conservative movement in Canada returned to its former glory,
then supporting me is the right and principled choice to make.
I hope to be
hearing from you soon.
Let's Get It
Together,
Craig B. Chandler

The Progressive
Group for Independent Business (PGIB), www.2cards.ca Project is
a long term project that needs support from conservatives of various
stripes. Our first objective is to get a Canadian Alliance friendly
leader elected to the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada so
that serious parliamentary coalition talks can commence to unite
conservatives into one unified Liberal slayer. We know there are
egos and arrogant attitudes in both the Canadian Alliance and in
the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada, as we have received
nasty e-mails from both sides. However, we also know that in both
parties there is growing support for our unity message.
To those of
you that want to see the unity issue remain at the forefront even
after Craig Chandler is selected leader of the Progressive Conservative
Party of Canada we ask you to help us in a financial manner. PGIB
does not feed at the public trough in any way shape or form. Unlike
other interest groups we feel that if you can't survive without
government funding than your group does not deserve to exist. Join
