Craig's policies
on various issues are listed below. If you do not see a policy position
on an issue that is of concern to you please call our campaign headquarters
at (519) 856-1634 or e-mail us at pgib@2cards.ca
and Craig or someone from the campaign will get back to you as soon
as time permits us to do so.
IRAQ
Craig feels
that we should be supportive of our good neighbour to the South.
9/11 was a tragedy and despicable act that he fears could be visited
on all freedom loving countries. Craig believes that we should champion
all efforts that will prevent the spread of terrorist activities
throughout the world, including the removal of Saddam Hussein's
repressive rule in Iraq. Craig has no doubt that along with being
a murderer of his own people, Saddam will be shown to be a supporter
of a broad range of terrorist activity in the Middle East and throughout
the world. World peace must be defended by countries of courage;
Craig believes that Canada is such a country.
MILITARY
Craig believes
the government of Canada should restore appropriate funding to the
Canadian Military to ensure operational readiness and effectiveness.

February)
CANADA CUSTOMS
& REVENUE AGENCY
If Canada Customs
& Revenue Agency forces an audit and no wrong doing is found
the agency should be responsible for compensation (IE. legal bills,
accounting fees and lost revenue). Canada Customs & Revenue
Agency should not be able to enforce "Requirement To Pay"
form on any accounts without due process of law.
IMMIGRATION
Allow immigration
to be strictly controlled jointly by the Provinces and the federal
government
TAXPAYER
PROTECTION
Craig proposes
the enactment of a Taxpayer Protection Act at all levels of government,
forcing a binding referendum on raising involuntary fees and taxes.
FISCAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Craig is committed
to require quarterly financial statements by the federal government
which must disclose where tax money has been allocated.
EQUALITY
Craig believes
that Canadians should be treated equally regardless of race, language,
culture and gender and not receive special treatment because of
these characteristics. Craig cherishes the various cultures in Canada
and believes that these cultures can and will continue to flourish
without the government tax dollars. Therefore Craig believes in
the elimination of:
- Government
funded multiculturalism.
- Grants or
funding of special interest groups.
- Human Rights
Commissions, Tribunals and language police.
- Employment
Equity laws and programs.
DEMOCRACY
Craig believes
that politicians are elected to represent their constituents. He
believes that Canadians should decide the direction of the government
on major issues. Therefore, Craig supports the following:
- Recall -
Craig believes that voters must be able to recall Politicians.
- Free votes
- This will allow our politicians to represent us not just obey
their party line.
- Fixed election
dates
- Term Limits
- Referendums
on major issues
- A Triple
E Senate (Elected, Equal and Effective)
TAXES
Craig believes
that the average Canadian business pays far too many different government
taxes. Moreover, restrictive provincial labour laws also limit the
independence of business owners to strategically grow their businesses
and add more employees as they see fit. Craig supports eliminating
these restrictions on growth through the following policies:
- A single
rate of tax on income earners and businesses.
- Elimination
of business subsidies and corporate handouts ("Corporate
Welfare").
- Elimination
of all income, business and payroll taxes to be replaced by a
consumption and expenditure tax.
- A complete
Organizational Review of all civic organizations with regards
to core services should be undertaken to improve productivity
and delivery of services.
- Elimination
of Inter-provincial trade barriers
- Ensuring
that every province is a "Right To Work Province" (meaning
an end to forced unionism and/or dues as a condition to employment).
PROPERTY
RIGHTS
Craig believes
the absence of Property Rights are a barrier to creative effort
and individual improvement. Property rights must be enshrined in
Canada's constitution
PENSIONS
- Craig will
fight any increases in CPP contributions. Craig will encourage
the public to invest in their own private retirement plans.
- Craig advocates
mandatory provincial pension plans regulated by provincial governments
but managed by private enterprise.
PRIVATIZATION
The business
of government is to be a facilitator for the provision of services
not a provider of services. Consequently, Craig supports:
- The privatization
of all crown corporations.
- Privatization
of nonessential services
- Referendum
on privatization of Crown Corporations
- Create a
public / private task force on privatization.
FIREARMS
& RECREATION
Canadians shall
have the right to own, enjoy and use firearms in a responsible manner,
and no law will infringe upon heritage, culture, and other historical
rights relating to hunting, trapping, recreational target shooters,
firearms collectors, agricultural firearms usage and other historical
firearms activities. If necessary provincial governments will legally
challenge any aforementioned infringements and will if necessary
after a referendum invoke the "Not Withstanding Clause"
SUPREME COURT
Craig believes
that the Supreme Court of Canada has become political and activist
and in no way reflects the will of the majority of Canadians. Since
these judges are ruling according to their own personal and political
agenda we support and will actively promote elected Supreme Court
Judges in Canada.
FAMILY
Craig believes
in the following precepts that support and protect families:
- Elimination
of Child Pornography and strict enforcement laws at all levels
of government.
- Raising the
age of consent to at least the age of 16.
- Elimination
of interest group funding.
- Give newly
married couples a tax break to give incentives to marriage and
to start a family.
- Implement
a Parents Rights Protection Act.
